Nice film shame about the song
It is a decent rendition of the book but most of what is good about this is down to the book and not the film itself. The songs let it down. If you have a skip forward ability on your player then be prepared to use it. With a little work, it is a decent film. There are no special effects. Expect more people in costume that animated talking animals but Gene Wilder is the one character that gets through this without embarrassing himself and is always a joy to watch. I recommend you get this film and the book and hope someone will make a better version of it one day because until that day it is all fans of the story have really got. There is the netflick version which is a retelling of the story in flashback by one of the central characters when he is old. They have written their own story and embedded the original story within it. They don't totally mangle it and so it is worth a looking at. If you are a fantasy fiction fan and you do have netflicks, I highly recommend checking out Troll Hunter.
