Palm Treo's... best phones!
This is my third Palm Treo in three years... and I bought this one planning that someday my current one (two years running) will clonk out eventually! I'll want another replacement Treo handy for when that time comes... they're great phones! Virtually indestructible, easy to use, etc.

Palm Pixi -- Data Plan Required?
http://www.cringely.com/2010/06/semi-smart/
^^read the above website then read my comments below:
I purchased a new Palm Pixi to replace my ancient Palm Treo 750 which I subsequently purchased off eBay in March of 2009. I have a basic minutes & texting plan now that costs me a reasonable $30 a month. After going to the sprint store today to transfer my number from the old Treo to the new Pixi, the less-than-sympathetic saleswoman informed me that I'd have to buy a data plan in order to run my new Palm Pixi... which would at minimum up my bill from $30 to $70+ a month. This is outrageous and a testament to the fact that cell service carriers are finding ways to take advantage of phonebling-thirsty Americans. I for one won't pay an extra $480 a year for GPS and wifi... I already own a laptop and a GPS! I imagine those who are wealthy and need internet in a handheld device (most of the time since coverage isn't everywhere) can stomach the extra money for a data plan; a poor 20 year old college student like myself simply won't hear of it.
