Good, but updated edition available
Now superceded by the 2009 edition (and other guides). This served me for (a middle grade climber with limited rescources) for a short trip over the border. It served the purpose well for the price, giving options for a number of crags so we could chase the weather, and still find a route or two to do.

Reusability
Easy to use, and probably a bit more environmetally friendly than paper filters, if you discount the plastic that went into the manufacture. Moved to it as paper filters are becoming harder to get.

Good value for money
My big fear when buying inexpensive knives is that they will have excessive lateral flex. As I don't have steak every day this is based on limited experience, but so far these knives have stayed straight when cutting. The serrated edge is sharp enough to make cutting easy.
Construction appears to be solid: a full length tang with three rivets. Inevitably at this price the handles are plastic, but the feel is not unpleasant, and it is arguable as to which is the least environmentally unfriendly - plastic, probably based on petrochemicals, or hardwood like ebony or lignum vitae, which would encourage further destruction of precious rainforest. I think I come down on the side of plastic. One handle had a slight imperfection, which I hadn’t noticed until I came to write this review. The small amount of excess plastic was easily removed by paring off with a sharp blade.
It is interesting that although the instructions say 'dishwasher safe' they go on to say they should not be cleaned in a dishwasher for the first year. I might not use every knife in the first year, so perhaps it would have been better to quote the number of washes. My immediate (cynical) reaction was that they probably had a one year guarantee, and that cleaning in a dishwasher would slowly destroy them, but that was unfounded; they have a 15 year guarantee.
Early days yet, but so far I am satisfied with the knives, and feel they are value for money. In fact I have already purchased a second set.
