I would recommend running the saw without a blade in for up to about 10 minutes at the slowest speed setting before using under load in order to let the motor brushes bed in because my saw seemed to spark inside when I first powered it up.
the blades it comes with work well enough but dont cut too fast with the metal blade because it will get hot and loose it's sharpness.
i have used it to cut up to 2.5 inch aluminium and plastic pipe. and up to 2 inch steel and stainless pipe. it can work on up to 3/16 steel plate also and 1/4 aluminium.
for under 30 quid it's a great value saw.
