Proffesionals choice, accurate, reliable, robust & easy to use.
I am a little bit old skool, & in my day the gold standard 'bubble' was a Stabilla that appeard to be modelled on a mini steel beam. It was highly favoured by the brickies & it seemed to be able to withstand all sorts of subsequent abuse. I ended up with 3 different sizes of this Stabila level from the 80's & 90's. As it was the Roles Royse of levels I thought it would always be the best level going. Anyway fast forward to more recent times & i have ended up working with others again & doing site work, and it turns out that this Stanley level is a popular choice among professionals, & I can really see why. I ended up retiring my Stabilas & I got 2ft, 4ft & 6ft Stanley levels.
The Stanley level is as robust & reliable as the Stabila but the visability of the vial is far better with this more modern Stanley level. As I have aged my eyes may not be as sharp as they once were, but I can see the bubble & vial far better. I think the vial & bubble might be a little bigger, but also the size of the bubble & the lines in the vial match exactly. The material covering the vial & the liquid in the vial also may help with immproved visability.
For some reason I still have an attachment to my old Stabilas so I havn't throw them out or used them for some reinforcment anywhere..... but I will never use them as a level, ever again in the remains of my entire life.....If for some reason I loose my Stanley Levels I will insist on immediatley getting new ones. Highly recomended
