Concorde: A Designer's Life: The Journey to Mach 2, Talbot, Ted, Good Condition
27 Aug, 2019
The title is accurate.
Ted Talbot was deeply involed in the development of the engine air intakes for Concorde. He descibes the background to that process and gives an insight into life at that period. If you are looking for a technical description of Concorde or an overview of the complete project, this is not it. On the other hand if you are more interested in the personalities and problems involved this book hits the mark nicely. Written with great humour, even in the face of extreme frustration and personal health problems, it is an excellent read.
Gun Button to Fire: A Hurricane Pilot's Dramatic Story of the Battle of Britain,
07 Jan, 2020
Excellent personal history of the Battle of Britain
Tom Neil writes well about his experiences as a Hawker Hurricane pilot during the Battle of Britain. There is no attempt to gloss over the weaknesses of the R.A.F., the Hurricane or the British people at the time. As a lifelong aeroplane enthusiast and amateur WW2 aviation history buff I learned quite a bit from this account.
