Yamaha EF2000iSV2 for trailer use
2 of 3 found this helpful I just purchased a Yamaha EF2000iSV2 for use with my trailer. I have a 5000BTU airconditioner and microwave that can't be driven off the battery.
I borrowed a friends Honda EU2000i generator to test. It can drive the airconditioner or the microwave. But not both at the same time. The ECO mode does not work driving these devices. I filled the gas tank and ran the airconditioner at full with the fan at high. I also ran the refrigerator and lights. The Honda ran 5.5 hours on a full tank.
I liked the idea that the Yamaha has a separate full shut-off so you can run the gas out of the carb. I ran the same test that I did with the Honda. On a full tank the Yamaha ran 7.5 hours! (2 hours longer than the Honda).
The ECO model on the Yamaha does not drive the airconditioner. I haven't had a chance yet to see if the generator will drive both devices at the same time.
It would be nice if the generator came with an oil fill funnel. The Yamaha seemed a little louder at full load than the Honda, but I don't have a sound meter.
So things are good so far... we'll see how it works over time.
