Worth every penny
This lens realy is the business and worth every penny. I shoot motorbike racing and although a lot of people use Canon or Nikon systems for this type of thing I wanted to stick with my Sony A700 system. Compared to any other lens I've tried this lens is way ahead of everything else by any manufacturer. Its fast, holds focus and the images are razor sharp. I researched the web for reviews and they all said that its up there with the Canon & Nikon equivalent lenses and better than the independant brands. Its heavy but very usable hand held, a monopod isn't essential but useful. I find it very easy to carry as I move around and cover a fair distance on foot with the lens attached to the body with battery grip etc without any problems. The colour of the lens is mentioned in some reviews, I don't find it a problem (there are plenty of light grey lenses at the events I attend), its silver and looks great. The improvement in image quality over my previous lenses (Sigma, Sony & Tamron) IS noticable and is the main reason I bought it. I can't fault it at all.
