Fantastic image quality, ok build
I first bought the 12x56 non ED endurance from hawke and I was amazed by how well it was built, lovely feeling twist-up eye cups sturdy, heavy, rubber armor was well built.
Unfortunately the image quality wasnt the best, contrast is great but color fringing is very noticeable especially with high contrast images.
Also there was a small piece of dirt inside the front lens so I sent it back and replaced it with the 12x50 ED.
Image quality is fantastic for this price. Truly is as with the naked eye, super sharp bright and almost no color fringe at all.
I guess they had to shave off from expenses elsewhere on the product and this shows especially compared to the 12x56 (which originally actually is a 30% more expensive bino, but real price today is the same as 12x50).
The twist up eye cups are plastic meaning their mechanism as well, feels like opening a bottle of fruit juice compared to the 12x56. The focusing knobs resistance or feel isnt constant it does get lighter towards one end, and it doesnt have such a direct stop at either end. Rubber armor is also thinner and isnt as "perfect" as with the bigger one. Accessories are also cheaper a bit, especially the strap.
Its also true that the 12x50 is lighter and smaller so it is more portable which is a plus for me.
I would prob didnt notice these things as much if I hadnt had a chance with the simple endurance model but also I didnt find any comparison reviews so this might help someone. Also I was expecting evrything to be the same appart from the smaller front lens since they are the same line of products.
