Why I bought a more expencive set of utensils

The way I see it is these will get so much use that it is best to have something of good quality. That doesn't mean a quality item has to be expensive but many times a quality item will cost more than some alternatives. In this case there were many cheaper alternatives, mostly bamboo items from China and some cheap beechwood spoons. While they would probably be fine for a while, I have been a professional cook and know how cheap quality stirring spoons can just snap in two while stirring a thick preparation. The length of these stirrers are fine for domestic sized pots by keeping the hand away from hot steam etc... I think the flat spatula type stirrer could be a little thicker, but I have used them all now for a for a week and am happy with the strength and quality so far. The summary is these cost a little more than the cheap versions but the good quality negates the relatively small extra cost with the potential longevity of the items. The other point is this set includes the shapes I find work well with cooking. One could easily spend more on wooden cooking spoons but the advantage wouldn't be that much in my opinion than what this set offers. I hope this advice helps when making a decision :)

This has worked well for me but I think a good quality digital one would be a better long term investment.
