A solution that works
1 of 1 found this helpful These shock arresters have finally fixed the water hammer problem that we've suffered since our water company re-lined the water main and increased the distribution pressure. I'd previously tried the pneumatic type but the diaphragm bursts with those. Also lengths of vertical pipe to trap an air bubble but the air slowly dissolves in the water so they have to be recharged. There are other piston types available but they are rated for use only up to 4 bar - our supply is 5 bar. These Caleffi units are rated for 10 bar use
I've fitted two - one mid-way between the incoming supply and the kitchen and the other after the double-check valve in the feed pipe to the washing machine and dishwasher. No more water hammer.
