Black and made of Bakelite. Like my nan's television
My wife had a knackered old wire bird cage that she thought would be excellent as a novelty light fitting. I have absolutely no taste and zero qualifications as an electrician so I naturally thought: `yeah, why not'. I ordered this item and a metre of woven black electrical cable from a chi-chi little firm in Leeds and got cracking. It was great! Within about twenty minutes the whole of the kitchen table was covered with screwdrivers, wire strippers, scraps of flex, insulation tape and small pools of my own blood as I followed my usual method of wiring light fittings, which involves connecting different-coloured wires at random to different terminals until the fuses in the basement stop going `bang'. I also have an espresso machine in the kitchen and by the time I was ready to show my delighted spouse the finished product, I was visibly vibrating and had developed the ablility to scale walls without a ladder. As you can see the finished item looks like something a family of Welsh goths would consider a bit dark. Five stars
