Five years later, still a lot to offer.
This is a big laptop. Not too big to take from location to location, but not convenient if you need to carry it around the same room. It feels like a well built machine. Pros: 1) Even though they are outdated, the processor options are still pretty viable for most things 2) Professional grade video cards are still upper class 3) Many have high resolution screens 4) Backlit keyboard 5) Nice sized keyboard 6) Quality components 7) Upgrades to Windows 10 with few issues Cons: 1) HUGE power brick. Runs on over 200 watts 2) Speakers are only so-so 3) No HDMI out 4) Because of high power consumption, battery life isn't very good 5) Semi-glossy top and glossy keys show fingerprints badly 6) Metal case, including top, can be dented 7) Jog feature of the trackpad is hard to get working under Windows 10. 8) Plug placement in the back is good for desks but bad for laps If you are interested in one of these, I'd check it for the following: 1) dents on the lid (a real pain to replace the cover) 2) comes with adapter (these are $$ to buy) 3) condition of battery (these are $$ to buy) 4) Not all have webcams if you want one, some only have CD/DVD ROM drives (no writing,) some don't have Bluetooth, some have lower resolution, fingerprint reader (if you care.)

    Great at the right price...
I have decided to rate this camera as "good." If you can get it at a fair price (I would say under $150 as of 5/1/08) then I would say go for it. It was a higher-end camera a few years back and still retains many of those high end features, but those are balanced by the fact that technology has advanced a lot and newer cameras may offer similar features without the flaws. SUMMARY: I bought the Kodak EasyShare P850 because I wanted something more than a "point and shoot" digital but was not ready to drop the big bucks on an SLR camera. I have had several Kodak cameras and have always thought that they took good pictures with rich colors. Granted, I am not taking photographs for a living, and am not attempting to blow any of them up to poster size, but this camera when paired with the photo-dock makes taking pictures and getting prints from them relatively easy. If you want the feel of a higher end camera, coupled with some advanced customization options, then this is a great camera to consider. PROS 1) Feels solid in the hand...easy to hold on to and has a comfortable body, 2) You can buy different lenses for it (and on eBay the lens prices aren't bad,) 3) Has a Schneider Kreuznach lens, so the quality is a little better than average 4) Has image stabilization (important for the zoom, which leads us to...) 5) Zoom. 12X optical is very nice to have, 6) Large LCD for picture reviewing, 7) Menus are easy to navigate with a little "thumb-stick" type thing, 8) Has a shoe for an external flash, 9) Has many custom settings, as well as plenty of automatic options, 10) 5.1 MP is plenty for most people's needs (as long as you aren't going to be blowing things up to poster size.) 11) Here was a biggie for me, though it might not be for you: captures video at a TV quality resolution at 24 fps (many "higher end" Kodaks from this era only capture it at 12 fps at higher resolution.) I like to be able to capture both still pictures and basic video when the mood strikes me. CONS 1) If you have big hands you might find this camera feels kind of small and that the buttons are cramped, 2) The zoom is in an awkward spot...on a lot of cameras it would be where the on/off toggle is on this one, 3) There are a lot of buttons on this camera that could intimidate a novice (though you don't necessarily have to use them all,) 4) Kind of stinks at macro-photography. Objects photographed from about a foot away get a bad "fish eye" look to them (though this might be fixed by buying the macro lens...I haven't tried yet.) 5) The LCD is big but the resolution on it low, so it is sometimes hard to tell if you have taken a good picture or not. 6) It has a funny flat battery so I can't just stick in a fresh set of AA's if I need to (though this might be common to all "higher end" cameras.) 7) My wife complains about this too...it is not a "fast" camera. The time it seems to take for the camera to focus and take a picture is longer than our last camera. Most of the time that is not a big deal, but right now we have a fidgety 3 year old at home and it can be hard to get her to sit still.) You can speed it up slightly by turning off the "instant view" feature. 8) Some customization options you set seem to go away when you turn the camera off, which is kind of annyoing Thanks for reading this review! I hope you found it helpful if you are considering this camera! At the right price, it could be a real bargain! Please vote for this guide!

    Has its Plusses and Minuses
This isn't a bad product. Overall it looks nice, has as much power as any other after market head unit, and has a lot of connectivity (phone, blue-tooth, etc.) Of course, I think most head units around this price point have those things. Here is what I like: 1) Nice big knob to raise/lower volume 2) Many custom EQ bands 3) Adjustable colors 4) Bouncing EQ bars while music plays 5) Dedicated subwoofer out 6) Front USB/Aux input Here is what I don't like: 1) Display is way too dim, even at highest setting 2) Only 2 "zones" for color adjustment 3) Difficult to change EQ settings on the fly 4) Manual doesn't do much to explain "sound effect" settings 5) Screen does not have a high enough resolution, so the clock looks pretty stupid 6) Menus and sub-menus can be difficult to navigate 7) Controls for advancing folder, tracks, repeat, etc, not laid out very logically I have not yet tired the hands free calling, though the microphone is included. Overall, for this price point I think it's okay. I kept it because I'm not sure that any other head unit in this category would do things significantly better. I was also a little disappointed that the refurbished unit that I bought didn't come with the Toyota adapter I needed, even though it is listed as included in the manual.
