Front Wheel Riser Block for Indoor Bicycle Trainers
16 May, 2018
Safe and secure!
O.K., so I purchased someone's stationary trainer at a thrift store, and it fit my bike well. I needed a riser block to support the front wheel, and this is what I purchased. For the low price, it is excellent! Lightweight, rugged, and with rubber feet under its base (my setup is on a hardwood floor in my living room), it really does the job! Highly recommended (also, the local bike shop, which shall go un-named to protect both the innocent and the indecent, wanted FIVE times as much $$$$ for one of these.)
Tamiya 87051 Epoxy Putty - Quick Dry Type
29 Oct, 2015
Epoxy-type putties are best
I had read some good reviews of this product before actually trying it out. Easy to "knead" together two equal lengths of Tamiya's putty and apply it to my project du jour (I'm an automodeler.......and I do some "plane" stuff on the side). In brief: If you REALLY love & care for that model project you're presently working on, PLEASE avoid the "tube" style putties as they are lacquer-based and will continue to "gas out" (while doing this, they continue to shrink while trying to completely dry, this could go on for weeks and even months). GET SERIOUS and get Tamiya Epoxy Putty!! I recommend carving excess away (after at least 24 hrs. to make sure it's well-cured) excess product away with a sharp X-Acto blade and then use sanding sticks (220 up to 600-800 grits, in succession) to "feather" any remaining putty into the work you're wanting to fill, seal, sculpt, alter, etc. Check with applied primer coats as often as necessary. This. Putty. Does. NOT!! Shrink!! The epoxy in the two-part mix is the trick!! Highly recommended!!

Talbot Lago Grand Prix 1949 race car (1/24 plastic model kit, Smer 0953)
26 Aug, 2022
Got Talbot Lago? GET Talbot Lago!!
Well intentioned remake of old Merit and Heller kit. It doesn't have the complete spoked wheels like the two above mentioned kits it's based around had: just a clear plastic disc (like the old Monogram "Sizzler" dragster presented as "wire wheels") with raised spoke detail that can be colored in with a silver fine-line pen. But the majority of the rest of the old Talbot Lago model is there in the SMER offering, and you can't beat the price! Those wheel discs can be worked with detailing to produce reasonable results. Get beyond that, and the rest of this builds up to a fine replica (I've looked at a lot of on line videos about this kit). Recommended!
