Smashing offer for new iPhone 5S
1 of 1 found this helpful For the price - just over £200 - a good phone with 64GB onboard memory. Not a fan of iPhones - as they're normally overpriced in my view at least - but this is a bargain.

Great Android phone for newbies or the elderly
This Android phone has been designed with the elderly, or those using a smartphone for the first time in mind. In a nutshell, for the target user it will perform with aplomb.
The screen is large enough, the menus are task orientated and lead the new user through tasks with all the options offered in stages. Once one becomes more used to how Android works, the assistance can be adapted/limited so by example sending texts, making calls or sending a WhatsApp messages is becoming more efficient, allowing the phone to grow with the user's increasing competence and confidence using it.
The screen is bright, with plenty of detail (Full HD), comparable to a top-of the-range mobile only a few years, perhaps two to three generations or so, ago, which is actually very good. Pictures and videos from the web look great, but the mobile's own camera is the most obvious limitation. The pictures are not as brilliant, colourful and detailed as one has become used to these days from mobiles. However, for the target group this is probably an acceptable compromise.
The case is made of hard-wearing plastic, and the screen is plastic as well, hence making it less liable to crack when dropped. It doesn't look cheap though, the finish is excellent and the phone looks smart enough, at least in my view.
The buttons (home, back, history) are large enough with good feedback when actuated. They're firm, not wobbly, and look nice, not too plump, with a good hard-wearing mat-silver plastic finish so the phone still compared well to contemporary smartphones.
On-board storage is only 8GB, which is a bit tight, but with the limited resolution of the camera and online storage becoming ever more easily accessible these days, this is unlikely to be a major concern, even more so with the target user group in mind.
Highly recommended the target group, but of course not a mobile that would be suitable for the aficionado who wants the latest and fanciest technology at her/his fingertips.

Great enthusiast DSLR
1 of 1 found this helpful Read the reviews on dpr and other respected websites.
It is currently the by consensus best-rated enthusiast DSLR.
I love it, stepping up from a slightly outdated D300s. The image quality is great, and even at high ISO of up to 3200 images have great colour and detail.
In terms of usability it is a few evolutionary steps from the menus and buttons on my D300s, overall making it a much more slick and up-to-date and user-friendly camera to use. One particular detail I love is the dedicated ISO button on the right top - well done, Nikon.
In short: a fabulous DSLR coupling great user interface, top ergonomics, robust build and image quality. As far as I am concerned it ticks the essential boxes for the enthusiast, now available at bargain prices below RRP.
