A good read. Gives an insight into the 'other side's' thoughts and beliefs.

A marvellous explanation of what actually happened.
A very good write up of Wellington's Peninsular campaigns. Having widely consulted all the available records, he does'nt just pick the bits that fit his narrative. Opposing evidence /views are also discussed and reasoned with. He also provides enough political background / analysis to make sense of the overall theatre of war at the time, which in turn helps explain some of his decision processes. The author is definitely a fan of 'Old Nosey', highlighting some of his remarkable foresights, but also his mistakes.
Having said that, it is an easy and enlightening read. The only fault is that, having been written some few years ago, the battlefield information is sometimes out of date. Those Spanish have been building roads and houses in some of the places. Still worth a visit though, a lot is still as was.
