In the Heat of the Night DVD (1967)

A heat worth sharing

I was surprised at how well this film has stood the test of time. Although released in 1967 it remains sharp in both sound and vision. If its age was not betrayed by the younger appearance of the main characters, so well portrayed by Rod Steiger and Sidney Poitier, it could have been made last year rather than 5 decades ago. The locations used appear to be authentic, and the sultry heat permeated the duration of the film. The message is, unfortunately, still very relevant which enhances the film's importance to new generations.
