Easy update for a Modus

The 2004-2006 Modus has big, orange front indicators that make it look like a toy car from the entrance at Asda. These improve the looks, bring it to 2007 era and are an easy fit. One stubby Phillips screwdriver, twist and pull out bulb holder, replace clear P21W (NOT PY21W - made that mistake) with an amber one and put everything back. New screw provided but I used the original. The bulb holder needs a FIRM push in -don't be scared, it does fit.

Satnav-PC hookup

My Garmin satnav has the less-popular mini-B connection and has been telling me to update the maps for ages now. Not possible while the mini-B leads to a 12V car socket, so I ordered this lead to connect the satnav to my laptop. Maps and other data updated pretty quickly so it's done the job required. I don't know if the cable will hold together well in regular use (a bane of the cheaper USB cable) because this will be kept in the satnav box and used sparingly but, for the requirement, perfect.

Still stuck after torture test

I have a 2002 van-with-windows and one just fell onto the ground when I closed the hinge. The (heavy) glass was bonded to two little (1cm x 3cm) rubber-coated metal strips and a windscreen expert reckoned it couldn't be rebonded. No replacement in the UK could be found so I tried Gorilla Super Glue Gel out of desperation. Follow the instructions; shake well, don't apply too much. Rested the glass onto the strips (+ an iron for a bit of extra weight) and left overnight. Next day, some areas could be prised apart so a few more drops there and repeat the process. I fixed the mounts back into the van and set off. 1800 miles in five days, lashing rain, strong winds, vibration and bumps, hot sun - the whole lot. The glass is firmly fixed after all that. I haven't tried opening the hinge again, I'm not tempting fate especially at motorway speeds, but it sure beats driving down through Europe with a bit of polythene flapping over the hole. Brilliant stuff.
