Ideal for steady support
Made in two parts which screw together, this makes the mahl stick long enough to reach past the canvas to be steadied on the easel itself. For small (e.g. A4 -A3 size) it can be used without the screw-in extension. The rod is metal, but not too heavy to use. I've never used a mahl stick before, but recently felt the need for something to steady my hand for precise placements, such as highlight on eyes in an oil painting. This fits the bill very well indeed, without being too expensive.

Sci-fi with compassion
Story deals with a young captain, initially in an explorer tug in his home solar system. I don't want to give any more away, but I found 'The Silver Ships' (now a series) absorbing reading. While there is technology in it, there's no baffling 'techo-babble' and nothing that strains credulity - allowing for this being set in space, with spaceships, and at some time in the future. For me at least, this is a book to read and read again.

Excellent watermixable oils.
Thins with water very well indeed, I believe better than other watermixable oils I have used. Colours are highly lightfast and full coloured. Easy to paint with. As artist quality, perhaps a little too expensive for beginners, but for serious painters, Cobra artists quality water mixable oils are well worth trying.
