The Incredible String Band - their best work IMHO
1 of 1 found this helpful Five CDs for the price of one. What's not to like? 5000 Spirits - every song is brilliant. And there are many gems in the other 4 albums too. They were incredibly creative, and their songs make me laugh and sometimes make me cry because they are so beautiful. They were the real deal flower-power people of the hippie generation. I grew up in the sixties and fell in love with their songs in the seventies, and have never grown out of them. Some people say they sound like amateur musicians and sometimes out of tune, but I say they knew exactly what they were doing and often deliberately went for that effect. Either way, they always came across as real musicians playing real music, not 3-chord posers backed by professional producers. And when you consider how many super high-profile musicians cite Incredible String Band as a huge influence, you owe it to yourself to get to know their music to appreciate its worth. I had so many happy times singing along with them in my car while driving through beautiful country. Thank you so much, Robin and Mike, and yes, I Was A Young Man Back In The 1960s.
