Light enough to easily work with while sufficiently strong.
Its perfect for DIY jobs being not too heavy so easily worked with, but sufficiently strong for most jobs. I am making up steel ladders to install permanently in a disused mine in Wales used for recreational purposes. So very heavy would present transportation problems.
Its an easy method of purchase and the delivery costs, especially for a small quantity, make it a more economical purchase than the time and fuel spent going to a local stockholder.
