fits the Olympus 40 to 140 mm lens if the fancy Oly lenshood has collapsed
it is a lenshood that shades and protects the lens

All lenshoods should learn how to have access to rotate the filter.
This lens hood is really useful if you wish to use a polarising filter as there is an opening in the hood such that you can rotate the filter without having to remove the lens hood.
It would be excellent if all the lenshooods had such an opening for filter manipulation.
