Excellent reference for those seeking insight into the Gospels
Bargil Pixner brings a wealth of knowledge in his presentation of the life of Jesus in Galilee. His contribution is fairly unique in scriptural scholarship. His book is not written for the academic scripture scholar but for those reading scripture seeking the message of Jesus. He emphasises that Jesus lived in a place with cultural and historical richness, and geographical and physical features that have been incorporated into the gospels. His book is full of interesting and informative tables, charts, maps and photographs that bring to life the connection between scripture,the historical period and physical locations in which Jesus lived. His message is that the story of Jesus cannot be separated from the historical context, and that this context assists in the understanding of this message.
