Works well but has a strong chemical smell from the cover.
I've been using Weller products at work for many years and recently bought this for home use. As a solder station, it works as well as I've come to expect from Weller.
However, the base unit has a very strong chemical smell which has spread throughout my flat. This is not the smell you briefly get from new bits, but a really pungent, sharp smell. I eventually tracked the source of the smell in my flat to the solder station, and it seems to be the blue plastic cover itself. At the moment, the whole base unit is sealed inside a plastic bag - I can either use the iron and get gassed, or seal it up and live!
A bit of googling shows that this not a unique problem, from users in the UK and US. It seems to be stations marked "Made in Mexico", but that might apply to all Weller products - I don't know.
So far, the only solution seems to be leave it on a mountain top for a month to see if the smell clears!
