Does not appear to be an Epoxy
1 of 1 found this helpful I am not a chemist but this white paint does not appear to be an Epoxy..
"An epoxy coating is a coating compound consisting of two distinct elements: an epoxy resin and a polyamine hardener (also known as a catalyst). When mixed, the resin and hardener engage in a chemical reaction that creates cross-linking of the elements as it cures. When the epoxy coating is fully cured, the resulting product is a durable, rigid plastic coating with numerous desirable mechanical properties."
After several weeks the VHT white epoxy paint can be removed very easily with fingernail or solvent.
I used the paint on an outboard gearbox which had been stripped to bare aluminium and primed with a thin coat of the VHT self etch primer. I had to strip the whole lot off and start again but this time using a Hemplel Epoxy Light Primer. Looking at the health & safety chemical list for the VHT Epoxy Paint, it only indicates solvents and pigments and nothing that relates to epoxy. On the postive side the spray is very easy to apply and gives an initial good looking finish. Other VHT products I have used seem OK.
