Unsuitable for cardiology

The chest piece has a very poor quality diaphragm which transmits sound badly. The chest piece is similar to the Littman design, which was intended to mimic the diaphragm of a two-ended chest piece detecting higher pitched sounds (eg breath sounds, crepitations, aortic murmurs) when gently applied and to mimic the bell detecting lower pitched sounds (eg mitral diastolic murmur) when more firmly applied to the chest. Without that diaphragm it does not work.
