The very best of the Ventures New release on EMI gold
If you have recently purchased the cd Foot tappers that is in the charts at this moment in time you will be familiar with the all time smash walk dont run and the Ventures follow up hit Perfidia.If however that is where your Ventures knowledge ends you need to add this to your collection !! So then a new compilation for the greatest instrumental group of all time celebrating 50 years of THE VENTURES. This is a stunning collection of tunes put together with some thought featuring some tracks that have never been released in th U.K on compilations before e.g. the brilliant version of strawberry fields forever from the 1967 album super psychedelics and love potion no.9 made famous by the searchers which was featured on the 1965 album Knock me out. The selections date from 1960 until 1974, but thats not where their story ends. The Ventures have been together continuisley since 1958 and have never had a year where they have not toured !! Check out you tube to see The Ventures live in japan in 1965 from the feature film beloved invaders which charted The Ventures rise to superstardom in japan outselling the Beatles 2-1 in the Height of Beatle mania !! So back to the cd The Ventures have a knack of bringing their on stamp to songs that you will be familiar with, check out their version of La Bamba from the 1965 smash album The Ventures Ago-go, or the gerry McGee lead guitar on Mason Williams Classical gas !! Then of course you have the stunning versions of Hey jude,Michelle and Eleanor Rigby, George Harrison was noted as siteing the Ventures as an influence. Back in March this year The Ventures were finally inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame, Long overdue. So then if your new to the Ventures purchase this cd as this is the tip of the iceberg. I got hooked when I was eight years old when I was given a record player fo christmas and a stack of my dads old albums, one of which was Walk Dont Run Volume two from 1964 featuring the house of the rising sun and diamond head which are featured here. Enjoy !!
