Avoid the 8-port ASUS RT-AC88U/AC3100
1 of 1 found this helpful I'm a big fan of ASUS routers, but this model in particular has a long history of radio failures. When the radio fails, the normally green wireless icon on the configuration page will show as half-gray or all-gray, and the MAC address will be blank. At that point, that band is toast. The 8-port switch is actually 2 x 4 port switches internally connected, so aggregated bandwidth isn't available to all ports. This is a hack. Avoid this router. The AC3200 on the other hand, works a treat.
