- j***j (1060)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseArrived after 10ams. A lot of money for a poorly finished plastic bracket.Reply from: pearsalltech- Feedback replied to by seller pearsalltech.- Feedback replied to by seller pearsalltech.Ahhh... So you think the tracking hasnt updated, so tried to get a refund. when Ebay refused claim because proof of postage supplied suddenly it's there for a photo? The item is smooth and well finished on all visible sections. The additional material inside is of no adverse affect to the function or looks of the product when installed. I can sand the product smooth on the internals but this would weaken the structure, and im sure you want the product to be as strong as possible.

Excellent value..
these are excellent value. I use them on my Dacia Stepway. HOWEVER, there are a few things to note:
The mounting feet do appear to lift - I'm not extremely worried, but did stick a strong cable tie around the bar, and roof rail of my car - for added security. (I have a bike on my roof, so... best to be secure).
They are pretty quiet, compared to my old vauxhall bars too. But You have to remember to cut the rubber strip - and add the strip between the mount and locking plate (this also stops people getting at the screwdriver spot too ;) )
If you don't cover the gaps, expect quite a bit of noise (I only put the rubber strip in the middle at first, and my lord - was it noisy at 40+. - now with all the gaps covered, no issues - even at high speeds down the motorway...

Just a plastic shell
This item is literally a plastic shell. I know you get what you pay for but in this instance you don't even get that.
This is a cheap copy.

Not too bad - Just remember to tighten EVERYTHING.
Let's begin with the most important:
*** THIS WILL ONLY FIT ROOF BARS UP TO ABOUT 55mm in width by default.****
You can make replacement brackets, and have it fit larger (mine are 60mm, and I used 6 roofing bolts and made three slotted brackets for each carrier - but it resulted in my bars being VERY SCRATCHED FROM THREADS!) ...
* I made some brackets (angle grinder, bench grinder, files, drill, etc required) for my oversized bars.
* You could use some good quality cable ties, or mending plates (the best in screwfix seemed a little too flimsy for my 70mile trips - hence making a couple).
* You could drill into your roof bars ( I didn't fancy this ).
*** NOTE: THE DRIVER OF A VEHICLE IS RESPONSIBLE TO MAKE SURE HIS/HER LOAD IS SECURE! - THIS IS ONE VERY IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER. ****
I do have an old pair of roofrails, which my feet on my new rails will fit - they are very noisy ... but the supplied brackets fit fine (these are very basic square bars...)
FITTING:
MAKE SURE YOU TIGHTEN EVERYTHING - EVERY TIME YOU LOAD YOUR BIKE, DOUBLE CHECK.
Tighten the nuts and bolts of the securing arms - and regularly check they haven't worked loose
- I placed a couple of extra cable ties round the bars and wheel channel too: just for added security (if the nuts/bolts work loose, the thing wont go flying off... but will alert me with banging about) - better to damage my car than kill somebody else / etc.
LOADING BIKE.
this is very easy. Place the "tie down" straps in the required holes (you'll work this out the first time you load the bike). Lift bike straight, then raise arm and slide bike into arm. Tighten arm to hold the bike. tighten it plenty...
Use tie down straps to secure wheels to channel (if wheels aren't secured, the arm will flip over, and smash your window screen... - or worse...)
THINGS TO IMPROVE.
* EXTRA THOUGHT NEEDED TO SECURE PEDALS - OTHERWISE EXPECT NOISE FROM SPINNING PEDALS! (cable tie / plant tie / bit of shoe lace / velcro)
* Remember to secure arms using tie down straps if not using holder / carrier.
