Revisiting childhood.
My four-year-old nephew, had been wandering around singing 'Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb.' I don't know who taught it to him, and my Dad remembered me singing it when I was his age. We ordered two DVDs, Trumpton with the firemen and their roll call and Camberwick Green, with Windy Miller. I am sure they are both excellent but my nephew claimed Trumpton and generously donated Camberwick Green to his five-year-old sister. My Dad says the pictures were grainy, and wobbly and looked quite amateurish by today's standards, but that they were very much of the time (Dad missed them the first time round, because Children's TV was on BEFORE he got home from work). My brother says that both DVDs have been watched A LOT. If I get the chance to view them (for nostalgia's sake) then I am sure, I shall enjoy them immensely. I was quite surprised to find it was available actually. There weren't many episodes of either programme made. We didn't buy Chumley (was that what the other one was called?) because neither I, my brother or my fiance can remember watching that one.
