'ROME' - a stunning series - well worth watching!
'Rome' has to be one of, if not the best telling of a great and engaging story. It weaves in historic events with the lives of people, whether rich or poor. The two leads are superb. One a Centurion and one a Legionnaire, both friends since the days of battle. The set decoration brings the streets of the eternal city to life. The scripts are solid and fast moving. It is not a dull history lesson, but a lively, well told story with great characters - both historic or otherwise. Anyone with even the remotest interest in the history of Rome would enjoy these series. I just wish they had made more!!!

'THE' Spitfire Manual
This is a reprint of the full 1940 manual for this iconic aircraft, exactly what would have been studied by the pilots themselves. Exactly what "The Few" would have read! Not as weighty as the original manual, so easy to read anywhere. Recommended reading for the WW2 RAF enthusiast or as a great example of social history. I just wish there was a Spitfire nearby. "Chocks away!"

THE Lancaster Bomber Manual
Full of the period detail, just the same as Guy Gibson VC would have learned about his bomber aircraft. An excellent read for the WW2 historian or anyone with an interest in 20th century social history. Light, compact and can be carried with you.
