Works well.
The S-993A desoldering gun is a very inexpensive alternative to many of the well known branded products. It comes with an Australian plug, which is easily cut off and replaced with a suitable plug for your locale (UK, in my case). It has adjustable temperature and a 100 Watt heating element so is suitable for most desoldering jobs. The tip is directly connected to mains earth to avoid ESD problems. The solder capture vessel has an aluminium disc which catches pretty much all the hot solder, allowing it to cool quickly and there's a felt disc within the main body to prevent any solder from getting into the pump, several spares of which are provided. It also comes with two nozzle cleaning probes (piece of wire with a loop handle) in case you experience a blocked nozzle or hot end. Additional nozzles are available in a variety of sizes to suit your needs. Whilst not the most sophisticated desoldering tool, it works well in the majority of jobs and is great value for money. I would recommend this tool for any hobbyist electronics enthusiast without question.

Fast, Safe and Easy to Use.
The Quicktest unit is perfect for powering any mains powered device which has no plug, such as lighting, older devices or anything else under test. It is NOT intended as a permanent replacement for a properly fitted plug or for continued use, but as an easy way to safely connect any item to the mains for testing purposes. It is made in the UK from sturdy plastic similar to that used for UK mains sockets and switches. There are three sprung colour coded plastic connectors (live, neutral and earth) which have quality brass / copper contacts which are only accessible while the lid is open. The earth contact is permanently connected, whilst the live and neutral are only connected via solid copper 'blade' contacts mounted in the lid once it has been closed along with an integral fuse on the live side. A neon indicator, which is visible whether the lid is open or closed, shows that the device has mains power.
This is extremely fast, safe and easy to use when compared with other methods of temporary connection. It is rated at 13 amps so can be used for anything that would ordinarily connect to a UK mains socket. This unit comes with a generous length of mains flex and has a moulded 13 amp plug. It would be perfect for educational use and for the professional and hobbyist alike. I would highly recommend this product.
