Great introduction to relief carving
Chris Pye is an excellent writer and carver and has tons of experience conveying what it takes to carve well in clear language. This is certainly among the best introductions to relief carving. It covers the basics well and then walks you through two projects. Both are the same fish in low and high relief and then follows up with great ideas for going forward from there. All of Pye’s books are worth searching out. If you can get them for less than $20 you should go ahead and get them. He doesn’t publish a lot of duplicate information like other authors, so it’s worth getting the different ones that cover other aspects in detail. He often refers to his other books for more in-depth knowledge.

Amazing author, amazing storytelling.
I’m a voracious reader of fantasy. I honestly think that N.K. Jemisin is the best writer out there right now. My previous tops would have been Sanderson and Rothfuss, but she tops them. Her writing and themes are more mature, but also deliver interesting additions every chapter, and at a depth that already has me wanting to go back and re-read the Broken Earth Trilogy I recently finished. This isn’t middle school fantasy. There’s sex and cruelty and abuse in these novels, there’s diverse racial issues, LGBTQ issues, because those things are real and speak to deeper messages about humanity. If you haven’t started reading Jemisin you need to start now.
