Is MF really that good
The 6x6 negative format has wonderful resolution when compared to 35mm. The Mamiya 6 offers the best of both worlds - medium format negative quality but a compact form factor that is great for walking around with and relatively silent in operation. With the great glass of the 3 Mamiya G lenses it is just like an oversized Leica M6.
I was considering the Mamiya 6 against a Bronica 645 and glad I went for the larger negative of the M6. It is also a far cheaper route into medium format rangefinders compared to the Mamiya 7 / 7ii.
The camera feels really solidly built, the viewfinder is very bright and clear and, despite, reports on poor reliability, the winder mechanism is smooth and precise.
If excellent picture quality, ease of operation and portability is what you are after from your film photography, then I can highly recommend trying the Mamiya 6.
