Dell Laptop - D820 seller refurbished

Definitely a highly recommended machine....

I previously had a D620; I now have TWO D820s - both versions (although now somewhat older) are excellent machines and very versatile. Both versions will run either Win 7 or Win 10 without any problems, and there are an extremely wide range of ports to accept older AND current devices - USB 2.0, PC Express, PCMCIA, SmartCard, Serial port, IEEE 1394 (Firewire) - I have a (working) USB 3.0 PC Express card installed - the only port missing is a parallel port...!!! The only failing is that they are known for problems with the NVidia graphics - Apparently Intel graphics are recommended...

A (NOT) useful and effective upgrade.

Bought to upgrade an older laptop (only four USB 2.0 ports). It provides more and faster file transfer; unfortunately the mini-cd provided (drivers) could not be read (on any of five different computers - Win 7 and Win10) but fortunately was recognized and installed drivers for both 7 and 10 from the internet. Worth the money and I may well buy another for another older laptop. Unfortunately I now have to amend my review - I did buy another, but now after less than two months, BOTH no longer work. Occasionally(!) when the device is inserted, a message appears that "this device may work quicker if inserted in a USB3 socket" (!) Other devices (USB sticks, external Hard drives) are not recognised and do not work, and the card itself becomes extremely hot - is this the cause of the problems?
