  Pair of plate 1 (the upper stamp torn off across the top of the queen’s head), making the 1d letter rate; used on a cover with duplex ‘EXETER / MY 25 / 72’ ‘285’ to Kidderminster. Reverse has receiving stamp of ‘KIDDERMINSTER / A / MY 26 / 72’ (at right of cover).The number is always difficult to make out on this plate (just about discernable here) but the absence of any other number in the right place will usually qualify it (unless obstructed by a postmark).Scarcer plate as 8 & 20 after 9.
