Classic British epic film with quality actors

So good to find a real old classic of British cinema. One of the last genuine epics (pre-CGI and all that). Enjoy the richness, the drama, the humour that turns to tragedy and the moral undercurrent that pervades the film.

A classic - moral and philosophical historical epic, a captivating journey into the dark underworld of revolutionary Paris, France.

One of the greatest novels ever written. As English people, we admire Shakespeare, Dickens and others, but to discover lesser-UK-promoted authors from foreign climes, such as Hugo or Dumas, is an enlightenment. That's a couple of French masters, I could go on around the World ... . However, it is up to the individual to explore and discover the hidden treasures of literature.

A highly personal "autobiography", a critical observer of life, played out as a profound symphony. One of the best books that I have ever had the privilege of reading, one of only a handful that has left such a deep impression on me.
