Classic British epic film with quality actors
So good to find a real old classic of British cinema. One of the last genuine epics (pre-CGI and all that). Enjoy the richness, the drama, the humour that turns to tragedy and the moral undercurrent that pervades the film.

A classic - moral and philosophical historical epic, a captivating journey into the dark underworld of revolutionary Paris, France.
One of the greatest novels ever written. As English people, we admire Shakespeare, Dickens and others, but to discover lesser-UK-promoted authors from foreign climes, such as Hugo or Dumas, is an enlightenment. That's a couple of French masters, I could go on around the World ... . However, it is up to the individual to explore and discover the hidden treasures of literature.

Old man with a critical eye, to his home, friends & times
This is an out-of-the-ordinary story, drawing you in, to a world, a way of life, with its moods, characters and culture, and more. A microcosm of our evolving times, 'twixt Britain and mainland Europe, this island ecosystem and its intricacies, sketched out in vivid, emotive detail; friendships gained and gone, old ways buried under modern times, paradises found, lost, found again maybe.
A modern Greek saga, set within the confines of the Channel Islands, life magnified in a compelling narrative, harsh yet humorous, glorious and intimate, moving and memorable. A highly personal "autobiography", a critical observer of life, played out as a profound symphony.
One of the best books that I have ever had the privilege of reading, one of only a handful that has left such a deep impression on me.
