More mellow than some
I've always seen the Shostakovich quartets as biting, sarcastic and angry - qualities I admire - these are much more mellow and warm, while still being strong rhythmically.
An excellent alternative to the more acerbic readings and better as car music - my daughter always says my usual sets make her drive more aggressively!

Eye opening
A wonderful book on a marvellous painter - I was unaware of the extent of Cezanne's watercolours and now better appreciate some of his later oils - painted using water colour techniques
