Small things can spoil a good product
Well-designed, good-value dishwasher but still missing a part despite promises it would be sent to me. I’ll keep waiting…

My first smartphone!
8 of 8 found this helpful With a limited budget available to replace my old LG Viewty, I looked long and hard at what my hard-earned dosh might get me. There was the Samsung Omnia 8910, Nokia X6, and Samsung Wave. The Nokia concerned me because of the poor build quality I kept reading about, the HTC was really tempting bar the lower screen resolution and in the end I managed to pick up a great deal on a 1-month old Wave on ebay.
What do I like best? A lot! Superb screen - it's everything you will have read about, HD video recording and what seems like a fine camera all-round. It looks really smart and very easy to get to know. The interface is a joy to use.
There are always things that I don't like but they are few on this phone. The camera zoom is a little "clunky" (maybe there is another way to zoom apart from the volume buttons but I haven't found it yet!) and the shutter button isn't quite where I would like it. The battery runs down quickly but that seems fairly common with smart phones and that's about it!
There is no xenon flash as on the Viewty but the LED flash is very bright - maybe too bright when taking portraits!
Other reviewers have commented on few apps being available but I found enough to suit me & installation is a breeze. Others have complained about the size of the widgets & whilst I see their point, it doesn't really cause me a problem - it's so easy just to flick to the next "page" on the screen for the one you are looking for.
Music is OK from the speaker but a bit lacking in base (but come on, this is only a phone!) Music is much better with the earphones and simulated 5.1 sound and the supplied earphones are miles better than those with the Viewty - they actually stay in my ears!
I've been very pleased with internet access, pinch-zooming is still such a novelty to me that I usually end up grinning! I know, I'm easily pleased! Crikey, I might even think about joining Facebook now!
All-in-all a really nice phone that you shouldn't be disappointed with. I've only had the phone a few days so I'm still exploring what it can do, but so far so good. No, it's not an iphone but I don't think it pretends to be and remember that it is a heck of a lot cheaper!
I hope this helps if you are trying to decide on your next phone - happy shopping!

Should come with the RTL515
Much, much better than the rubber-band fitting supplied with the Varia RTL515. Holds the radar light at the right angle without any movement - even on gravel.
Is it good value? Well all Garmin stuff is priced on the high side but if it stops an expensive light falling off, yes it's worth it.
