Great for DIY antenna projects!
I build my own antennas, and many arrays do not have the typical 50 ohm feed point. The 450 ohm ladder line matches several antenna array feed points (for example, the W8JK antenna), and therefore limits power loss and high SWR (standing wave ratio) due to impedance mismatch. A 9:1 balun where the feedline goes into the tuner/meter is required to transform the feedline impedance back to 50 ohms.

Good match for the Stryker 447 tranceiver.
I'm also a stage musician, accustomed to hyper cardioid mics, and "eating" the mic. I can't seem to get used to amplified mics where you have to be 6 to 12 inches away to get proper audio. The Stryker noise canceling mic allows me to be right up on the cartridge and still get well articulated audio. I recommend this mic to anyone that is used to noise canceling mics. The Stryker radios have big audio, and this mic drives it very nicely.
