Unbeatable Image Quality
I have always had Canon "crop sensor" digital SLRs. I had the ORIGINAL Digital Rebel, then the 30d and eventually "upgraded" to a 50d. I say "upgraded" in quotes because while the 50d is a better camera in every way over the 30d, the images didn't always impress me. I shoot weddings professionally and while clients never complained about the images, I always felt they were lacking something. I use top of the line Canon Lenses and yes got some great shots but ever since the original 5d was released, I could pretty much pick out an image shot with that camera. the files just had something special. As any photographer I bet they say the same thing. When the 5dmark2 was released I knew it was on my list as my next camera but at the time couldn't justify the cost. It's been out now almost 2 years and the price has come down some where it is now more affordable so I pulled the trigger. Best, investment, ever. I know the camera has less to do with a great photo than say..the photographers skill, proper exposure, lighting, etc but IMMEDIATELY I could tell the difference when processing the files in lightroom. I don't know why I waited this long. I wish I would have purchased this camera when it first came out because now I'm ticked that I could have had this much quality all along. I shot an entire indoor church wedding ceremony at ISO 3200 and the files were sharper and cleaner than the 50d at iso 800. The ONE improvement I think everyone would agree on about this camera is it's autofocus system. Could it be better? Certainly but It has not changed the way I shoot from any of my previous cameras. I suppose the next 5d will have that sorted out but I wouldn't NOT buy this camera for that reason alone. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Do it.

Expensive, but unbeatable.
I have only had this lens for 1 week and I did a ton of research before my purchase. I have not been able to find ONE single person to say something bad about this lens(but I did find many lusting after it). I felt confident in my purchase and while recently switching to all primes, this was considered the #1 must have in a wedding photographers prime lens lineup(85L comes to mind as well) and now I can see why. Pricey? Yes. Sharp wide open? YES. Not many lenses you can say that about. At 1.4 it's like it's pulling in light from NOWHERE lol. Combine that with the clean high ISO of a 5dmark2 and you got yourself a winner. Great lens, can't want to use it some more.
