Shortly after winning the auction for the radio, I messaged the seller to submit a suggestion with regard to "padding out" the inside of the cabinet, thus helping to avoid the valves from becoming dislodged during transit. Upon taking delivery & opening the parcel, not only did I find the set to be well packaged up therein, but also my recommendation had been duly incorporated too. Therefore, I'm extremely pleased with all aspects of this transaction.

The only slightly negative comment i have is in regard to seller's choice in using Inpost for delivery. The tracking reveals very little. No facility for choosing an alternative date and no time of expected delivery given.

Imperfect and flawed but capable of making charming images
This is a really interesting product for creatives which allows the use of classic M42 lenses like the Helios and Jupiter lenses as well as vintage Carl Zeiss glass to be used on modern DSLR cameras. An internal lens element allows infinity focussing unlike similar adaptors without the lens. Whilst the older adaptors without a lens do perform better optically, the lack of infinity focus is very limiting whereas this adaptor allows you to use the lens as originally intended, from near to infinity. The adaptor appears well made in solid aluminium and couples smoothly with both the camera body and the lenses.
The inclusion of an additional lens element does bring its own issues and when used with certain M42 lenses, the increase in flare and loss of sharpness is significant. There's also appreciable chromatic aberration. If you want the ultimate in optical quality, look at branded lenses made by your camera manufacturer instead. However, if you're seeking something a bit different, this may appeal to you. I've tested this adaptor with both the Helios 44-2 and the Industar 50 on a Nikon DSLR body. Images have a soft, dreamy quality to them. Highlights literally glow. They do not look like images out of a modern, digital camera and instead have a film-like quality to them.
In conclusion I think there's great creative potential with this product, if you're prepared to overlook it's limitations.

Outstanding sound quality for the money
1 of 1 found this helpful If sound quality is all you care about in the pair of 'phones and you're on a budget, look no further. Sure, you don't get fancy packaging and the cables are cheap PVC. They're not particularly light or comfortable either. That being said, they are supplied with a good range of ear tips to suit different sized ears, so it is possible to get they fitting reasonably well. However, where these 'phones really excel is in how they sound: they are very good indeed, and produce a level of detail and accuracy that, frankly, I didn't realise was possible at this price point (N.B, I'm comparing them with £2k studio monitor speakers) Bass is a little over-blown but it seems churlish to criticise because everything else is so well presented. What's most pleasing to me is the lack of distortion at the top end, which results in a very clear and open sound. The only possible downside here is that they're ruthless with less-than-perfect recordings!
