Good 'Ole Mickey Mouse!
We bought this DVD for our kids. We had watched the original Mickey Mouse cartoons (from the 20's and 30's) and wanted to see what came next. Mickey, Minnie and Pluto are funny, but maybe not quite as charming as they were in the old black and white cartoons. We enjoyed all the cartoons in this collection. The only thing we didn't like (only a small irritation) was the introductions by film critic Leonard Maltin, who seemed to be (or was paid to be by Disney lawyers) a little too sensitive or politically correct about all the things that used to be acceptable in the forties but aren't any more (African American "Uncle Tom" dialect, Native Americans saying "How," gun use, etc. Just enjoy the 'toons, Leonard, just like the kids :-)

Hollywood Movie Star Finds Fulfillment in Christ
My husband is a volunteer with the Reno Film Festival, which in 2008 had invited Dean Jones and his wife Lory Basham Jones to come and receive an award and speak about some of his film work. We were interested in finding out more about Dean, so we read this autobiography, and we loved it! Dean recounts his journey from hedonistic actor to fulfillment in a relationship with God. When we met Dean and Lory in person, we found them to be friendly, generous, and authentic. We spent a wonderful weekend interacting with them at the Film Festival, and when they left Reno, we missed them as new-found friends. Since most people will not have an opportunity to meet Dean and his wife, we highly recommend this book as a way to get to know the man, the actor, and the Christian brother.
