The Passion of Joan of Arc (1999, DVD)
7 of 7 found this helpful One of the last great silent films made during the advent of sound, The Passion of Joan of Arc is a haunting and stunning portrait of the historical martyr based on documentation from the original trial. The film employs vivid close-ups to accentuate the ordinariness (while at the same time exaggerating the most grotesque qualities) of Joan's inquisitors. Maria Falconetti is unforgettable as Joan in what is probably one of the most demanding roles an actress could attempt. Sadly, this was her one and only film. It haunted me from the first time I saw it and I was thrilled to find it available on Ebay! If you are a fan of silent films, please check this one out. But beware -- it will stay with you long after you've put the DVD away!

Aptly titled "A Dry Spell" since it left me rather dry.
After reading "The Dwelling" by Susie Moloney, I was hooked! Fabulous book! I intentionally portioned out the number of pages I would allow myself to read each day because I didn't want it to end! I was excited to find "Dry Spell" on Ebay because I'd searched high and low for it in used bookstores, thrift shops, etc., all to no avail. Sadly I was somewhat disappointed with it however. Not only did it seem to drag on interminably but it just didn't give me a good old fashioned case of "the creeps" like The Dwelling did. Perhaps being a fan of old houses may have something to do with my feelings. In any event, I am looking forward to reading her other book, "Bastion Falls", in the hopes that it will be as enjoyable as "The Dwelling".

Don't Waste Your Money!
I was ready to trash my four vintage IBM "clicker" computer keyboards because I didn't think they still worked. Lo and behold the problem wasn't the keyboards -- it was this cheap adapter. I went to a major office supply store and purchased a quality adapter for a few dollars more than this piece of junk and all four keyboards work beautifully.
