An excellent lens which wont break the break the bank.
2 of 2 found this helpful The reason I bought this lens was twofold. Firstly I periodically get asked to do various portrait work and sometimes the ammount of space I have to work in can be limited, and when I`m taking photographs for my own pleasure, I enjoy looking around museums, and for this reason together with the fact that I am no longer able to hold the camera as steady as I used to I felt that I would benifit from vibration reduction on the lens.
Although for much of my working life I was a professional, I have nearly always bought good secondhand equipment as many of the "latest" cameras and equipment have so many facilities on them which I do not want, I can get a better specification camera by buying secondhand.
The body I have for everyday use is a "low mileage" Nikon D100 which work`s superbly with this lens.
I don`t need to go into the technical specification as Nikon themselves do that far better than I can, but from my point of view as an end user I can tell you that I am delighted with the lens.
Although it`s a 15 element lens it is fairly light and extremely quiet due to it`s silent wave motor with continuous manual focus overide. The build and picture quality of this lens are what I have come to expect from using Nikon for over half a centuary.
However, whilst for my purposes the lens is ideal, I must make a couple of points which must not be overlooked if you are considering buying this lens.
The biggest problem is that, as this is a DX lens, it is only suitable for cameras which support "D" system lenses. If you are not sure it is imperitive that you double check first as with this range of lenses there is no aperture ("F") ring, as all the programming for the exposure is done within the camera.
The recommended price for this lens is around £330 but I have seen them for less than £170.
For me, this is a really excellent lens, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants an inexpensive 18/105mm Nikon lens.

Probably the best wheel cleaner in the world!
I have used Autoglym products for many years and like the whole range, the acid based wheel cleaner is one of the best wheel cleaners I have used but I should add that, the professional range, whilst only available in larger quantities, certainly appear to give better results than the diy range.

Why buy one when ten are cheaper.
As a retired maintenance engineer I often get "can you repair this please". Thus it was that I ended up with a petrol driven hedge trimmer "It won't go", no, with petrol pouring out of every pipe you could see I'm not surprised it won't
go.
I managed to trace the make and model only to find that it was discontinued. Unfortunately, I needed two different size fuel lines and with the ridiculous price of the pipes, some three or four pounds per foot and it was sold only by the meter, it was working out to be a dear job, especially as I wasn't getting paid. It was then I came across these fuel lines. Not only did they come with new in tank filters and replacement non return valves, but there were ten of them and all for just £7.50 including postage.
They arrived in less than 48hours and were exactly as described. I must admit I was somewhat sceptical when I ordered them, but they were excellent quality and fitted perfectly.
My only problem now, I'm the one lumbered with cutting the hedge.
