Mathmos Astro Lava Lamp the Original

As I always expected

I always wanted one of these, and it didn't disappoint. After the initial 'alien embryo' stage when the wax is first melting, the thing is fascinating to watch. It does get hot, and after being on for some time the 'lava' breaks up into smaller and smaller blobs. All of this is described in the instruction manual, so none of that was a surprise. Getting a genuine Mathmos pays off, because you can always get the correct bulb and if you want a change or your current one gets tired you can buy a different coloured bottle easily. Everything else is high quality that feels as if it will last for years.

Fragile, not suitable for heavy use

Granted I may have been a bit heavy handed but the 'knife' broke within minutes, snapped at the brass connection at the base of the 'blade'. Hot wire broke almost as quickly. Probably OK for thin sheets, but for anything with substance you need to be gentle.

Excellent little keyboard

Wouldn't want to type an essay on it (duh) but this little keyboard is absolutely perfect for navigating around my smart TV and PS4 and entering passwords and searches. Works really well with my Galaxy S8 too. Only failing is it's not backlit.
