A shopaholic and self-confessed hoarder downsizing 40 years worth of stuff. Nearly finished the garage, the bathroom(s) are half way done and I'm starting on the wardrobe(s). Definitely Worth It
We are very traditional cooks, don't even have a microwave, but thought we'd try an air fryer given the hype. We have been surprised at just how good it is. I'm not sure why it's called an air fryer, it's basically a compact oven with a very strong fan and 2 grill elements. So far we've roasted an entire chicken dinner - 50mins and much more succulent than in our big oven. We've 'over crisped' some potatoes simply because we didn't believe it would only take 23 mins to roast them. And we've made a lovely leek & ham gratin with cheese sauce in a fraction of the normal time and it was perfectly crispy on top. The fact the oven is so much smaller than our big oven means it is cheaper and faster to cook the equivalent things. The instructions are super easy. The big drawer has 2 removable crispers & a divider and it all just goes in the sink, non-stick & easy to wash & dry. The fan is strong though so the smell of food goes right round the house if you don't have an extractor on. And it's very hot air coming out so be mindful of where you place it and give it lots of space. The wire isn't very long, so make sure you've got a plug near where it needs to be. And it's not small, takes quite a big spot on the counter top. But it's definitely worth it and we are having a good time trying new recipes. I've not tried baking in it yet, but it says it can be done.
