Yes, it is reasonably waterproof...
No water has entered the box. But you would hope that all the components would have been chosen to withstand the elements. The 4 screws that secure the lid have already begun to corrode/rust. They do not seem to be galvanised/zink plated. Stainless steel screws would have been better.

Good quality and looks the part with metal & glass shades hung on a chain
I use these for antique-style stained glass & metal lamp shades suspended on metal chains. They look right, are unobtrusive and give more confidence than plastic fittings.
