For the money, not bad at all
Stopped down, image quality is quite good on a crop sensor camera. Zoom action is smooth and focus is accurate but attention must be paid not to move the lightly damped focus ring. I use the lens at 70mm mostly to achieve 105mm equivalence on my Fuji X-series cameras. I would ultimately prefer a Fuji 70mm if ever produced and found my Nikkor 105mm ais lost some resolution on the speed booster I used. The lens also focuses fairly closely for impromptu shots. Not as good as a dedicated macro lens, but certainly serviceable.
