A Revelation
2 of 2 found this helpful I've been a Numatic Henry owner now for close on 30 years. I've had my latest, the rarer green Henry, for 12 years and it's still going strong. I suspect I'm like most owners, in that I economise by purchasing the cheap paper bags instead of the manufacturer's own cloth ones. They work okay and they save me money. Well, I've just learnt a salutary lesson - I won't be buying those again!
I'm in the process of installing a new kitchen, which has meant much rubble, brick dust and broken tiles. Henry was becoming quite heavy with all this material, an indication that the bag was full, and at the same time the suction had tailed off, so time to change the bag. Opening Henry, I discovered to my horror that the paper bag had split, not so much because it was full, but more likely a piece of sharp-edged tile had caused it to rupture. Consequently, I had the time consuming and filthy task of emptying the base, cleaning it thoroughly and investing half an hour in whacking the filter against a wall before I was satisfied that all the caked-on plaster dust clogging it up had been dislodged.
My builders, who'd knocked down a section of the kitchen wall, also had their own Henry for clearing up after them. They were amused at my antics and kindly offered me a genuine Numatic cloth bag as a replacement for the paper one. Not having any spare bags myself, I accepted gratefully... and I'm so glad I did. I fitted it and switched on. The difference was astonishing. Without any exaggeration, I'd estimate that the suction levels had doubled - it was very odd, feeling the floor brush being literally sucked into the carpet... and putting my hand over the hose to feel that suction caused me to hesitate as to whether that might be dangerous to my health!
Like I said, it was a revelation... no more cheap paper bags for me, especially seeing as you can get some good deals on the cloth ones. Oh yes, and I now have what is clearly a cleaner home too!

A great bit of kit, especially if you already have the Makita LXT batteries. The included strimmer, plastic and brush cutter blades work effortlessly. Took a while to set up the angle and length of the handles for comfortable usage, mind you.
